How can the research results carried out by universities and research institutes of the Adriatic-Ionian area be brought closer to the industrialization and production phases?
How can they be turned into industrial prototypes, as part of a joint co-development process involving researchers and companies?
This is the challenge of the OISAIR Proof of Concept Call (PoC Call), a transnational initiative promoted by the OISAIR Network dedicated to universities, research institutes and SMEs placed in the Adriatic-Ionian area and working in the field of Transport & Mobility, Energy & Environment, Agro- Bioeconomy.
The OISAIR PoC Call co-funds the best innovation projects co-developed with SMEs by means of innovation vouchers worth €18.500 each.

Launch of the PoC Call for Ideas (May 2019)
Assessment and Publication of research results (July 2019)
The OISAIR network will evaluate the technologies, ranging from TRL 3 to TRL 6, thanks to a panel of analysts by means
of tools for innovation monitoring. The assessment will focus on different parameters such as alignment with
Adriatic- Ionian RIS3, stage of development, competitive advantages, target market and potential application
of the technology. Evaluated technologies are then disclosed to the SMEs through the INNOVAIR platform.
Matchmaking activities and promotion to companies
(August 2019)
By the opening of the Call for projects, promotion of the technologies to
the industrial sector. Hence, SMEs are put in contact with research results owner by means of targeted matchmaking
events or directly by manifesting their interest in the technology through the R2B Area.
Development and submission of joint R2B innovation projects (September 2019)
Agreements between research groups and SMEs are reached and joint co-developed innovation projects
are defined and submitted for evaluation to the transnational Proof of Concept call.
Evaluation and provision of Innovation Vouchers
(October 2019)
Joint co-developed innovation projects are evaluated by boards of senior transnational technical evaluators.
The 10 best innovation projects will be awarded with an Innovation Voucher (worth €18.500 each).
6-months development of the awarded projects (May 2020)
With the support of the OISAIR network, the R2B working groups will carry out in 6 months
the experimental tests and trials to validate the research results with the aim of moving
towards prototyping and, secondly, towards production.
