Fire detection solution based on AI for smart harbors
The goal of this technology is to use the power of image processing and artifivial intelligence for the early detection of fire in harbors. The technology will ensure the safety of the people, boats, ships, harbor environment and infrastructure, and lower damage caused by fire toward the nature and human interest.
The goal of this project technology is to use the power of image processing and artificial intelligence for the early detection of fire in harbors. It will be used to ensure the safety of the people, boats and ships and harbor environment and infrastructure and the possibility to lower damage caused by fire toward the nature and human interest.
New solution is based on an artificial intelligence framework that consists of, machine, deep learning algorithms, and image processing techniques, which is compatible with surveillance devices like CCTV and wireless cameras.
Existing proposals, which use rule-based algorithms or image-based machine learning can hardly adapt to the changes in the environment because of their static features.
Proposed new solution, compared to the others, due to complex architecture of harbors and a specific environment surrounded by the sea will be specially customized for harbors area and it will able to detect flames and smoke on boats, ships and other harbor infrastructure. Furthermore, all specific noise due to waves, water splashing, and ships movement will be identified and removed.
Stage of development
Experimental proof of concept (TRL 3) has been designed, developed, implemented and tested. We have verified the performance of our system in terms of accuracy and delay time. Received results were satisfied.
Next step is technology validation in a real-world environment.
Challenge and needs
The biggest challenge is complex harbor environment and therefore comprehensive real-world experiments should be conducted. Furthermore, training of our AI solution will be very challenging, time, and resource consuming.
The technology is not yet protected by a patent.
Potential markets and targets
Primary the Adriatic and Ionian Sea harbors but in general all harbors globally including the inland harbors.
